Looking, longing, and loving

Today we got up, had breakfast at our 'usual' place, then headed north to Bartlesville. We had a destination in mind to personally check out and photograph for our granddaughter.

We grabbed some local BBQ at the spot we like to dine. Then we headed home via a less conventional route in order to view and appreciate the rolling hills, the green country that we know and love in northeastern Oklahoma.

It was relaxing and refreshing from our air conditioned vehicle on this hot summer day. Ahhhhhhh!

Once home my husband emptied our pool, cleaned it, and began refilling it for our afternoon 'sit' and cool off time. As we await the filling he shared the following with me from a Friday morning reading of his. . . it hits the mark.

Walk Closer to God

Looking, longing, and loving — three words to describe the responsibility of the Christian who is waiting the Lord's return.

Looking for ways to know God better, to serve others more sacrificially, to become more like Christ and keep in step with Him.

Longing for the day when you will be free forever from the weaknesses of the flesh, the wiles of Satan, and the whisperings of the world.

Loving God above all, and your neighbor as yourself — the greatest command.

Take a look back, and a look ahead. Are you holding your position in the race of life?

Truth For Life
Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice;
let the sea roar, and all it contains;
Let the field exult, and all that is in it
then all the trees of the forest will sing for joy
Before the LORD, for He is coming,
For He is coming to judge the earth
He will judge the world in righteousness
And all the peoples in His faithfulness.
Psalm 96:11-13
